Croatia wraps up 20 days in Alexandria
Croatia’s national team has officially closed its press centre in Alexandria after 20 days of intense World Cup 2026 preparations. The camp at Bishop Gadsden Episcopal School - one of the most prestigious private schools in the U.S. - has wrapped up its work. Head coach Zlatko Dalić used his final presser by the Nile to stress that the real job is only just beginning.
What did Croatia achieve in Egypt?
In Egypt, the team picked up six points in the group stage. Dalić pointed to Panama and Ghana as the key fixtures that secured their knockout berth. “We knew these matches would decide our fate. The first step is done, and we grew game by game, playing better each time,” the manager said after the last training session in Alexandria.
Where are Croatia heading next?
Croatia will stay in Alexandria until June 30. After that, the destination depends on the Portugal result: Dallas in case of a win, or straight home if they lose. No matter the outcome, the team will not return to the Egyptian city. Before the next camp, they’ll make a short stop in Toronto.

Dalić stressed that the goal was to secure a Round of 16 spot - and that goal was met. “I’m happy we grew game by game and played better each time,” Dalić said. After 20 days at Bishop Gadsden, where the press centre sat inside the Bocock wrestling cage, the team is ready for the next challenges. The last result against Portugal still looms large: Portugal 2-1 Croatia (2026-07-02).
