Lovro Majer's Transfer Smashes Club Record as Four Croatian Clubs to Benefit Financially Too

Lovro Majer is on the verge of embarking on what could potentially be one of the most lucrative stages yet in his career. The often-capped Croatian international is expected to join AEK Athens soon, where he will become part of a squad that includes former stalwart Domagoj Vida.

A report by Greek media outlet Gazzetta indicates that Majer's transfer fee from Wolfsburg could exceed six million euros, excluding bonuses, and will likely surpass the current club record set by Orbelín Pineda, who moved to AEK Athens for 6.5 million euros from Celtic.

Besides benefiting AEK and Wolfsburg, part of the transfer fee will also be shared among Croatian clubs through FIFA's solidarity mechanisms. Dinamo Zagreb is expected to receive around 105,000 euros, while Lokomotiva is set to get approximately 150,000 euros. Trnje should gain about 15,000 euros and Dubrava will see an income of roughly 30,000 euros.

Majer's career began in Zagreb with Dinamo, followed by stints at Lokomotiva and Rennes before his move to Wolfsburg. Now the spotlight is on his new challenge with AEK Athens, where he needs to shine as one of the club’s most prestigious recruits in its history.
