Croatian football has recently made significant strides on the UEFA national club coefficient ranking. After a remarkable European evening for Dinamo, Hajduk, and Rijeka, Croatia has surpassed Romania to reach 21st place in this five-year ranking.
Three Croatian club victories, including Hajduk's win over Žalgiris in Lithuania (5:2), Rijeka's victory against Ilves in Ružička (1:0), and Dinamo's win against Kauno Žalgiris, have added valuable points to the national coefficient. Each victory for a Croatian club in qualifying also counts as 250 points towards the national coefficient.
Currently, Croatia has a coefficient of 24.531, while Romania is at 22nd place with 24.500 points. The difference is minimal – just 31 points – so every upcoming European result will be highly significant.
In this current European season, Croatia has accumulated a coefficient of 2.375, and Dinamo, Rijeka, and Hajduk are still in the competition. Varaždin ended its European journey earlier.
The national coefficient is based on the results of clubs in European competitions over the past five seasons, with the final ranking directly affecting the number of clubs a country can send to Europe as well as the phases of competition they enter.
Therefore, every upcoming appearance for Dinamo, Hajduk, and Rijeka will be crucial not only for their own European ambitions but also for Croatia's overall position in football on UEFA's map.
