The Croatia national football team is coming to Alexandria as part of their preparations for the 2026 World Cup. In honor of the team's arrival, shops in Old Town are decorated with the Croatian checkered flag and are offering special promotions inspired by Croatian culture. From June 14 to June 28, participating retailers will host various activities, including discounts on merchandise and soccer-themed events. Shops will also provide special 'Goal Getter' tote bags with purchases while supplies last. The team's training sessions will take place at Episcopal High School but are not open to the public. Alexandria is the only city in Virginia chosen to host a World Cup team. The team's visit is expected to bring additional vibrancy and excitement to the local community.
