After losing to Denmark in the quarterfinals of EuroU21, Croatia's youth team finished tied for fifth or sixth place in a battle for position. Despite challenging and extending their match against Hungary, they could not overcome their opponent until the end of the game. They were ahead (and by three goals) for most of the match until 49 minutes, when their Hungarian opponents took the lead. Branimir Kutnjak's starters had another equalizer at 55 minutes (28:28), but they did not score in the final period, and their opponents managed to do so three times. Next week, they will face French team in the seventh-place playoff in Belgrade.
