Croatia head coach Slaven Bilić has named a 32-man preliminary squad for the upcoming Nations League matches. The final squad will be officially announced at a press conference on Friday, November 6.
The team will gather in Zagreb on November 9 before departing for London two days later. Their first task is a rematch with England at Wembley on November 12. England currently top the group, and the last meeting between the two sides ended in a heavy 0-7 defeat for Croatia at home on 3 October. Four days later, on November 15, the team will host the Czech Republic at the Opus Arena in Osijek.
The squad enters this camp following a difficult period, with just one win in their last four matches and three defeats. After a victory over the Czech Republic on 26 September, they suffered three consecutive losses: to Spain on 29 September, and then to England and again to Spain on 6 October, when Ivan Perišić scored Croatia's lone goal in the 17th minute.
Preparatory Squad
The list includes goalkeepers Dominik Livaković, Dominik Kotarski, Karlo Letica and Ivor Pandur. The defence features Joško Gvardiol, Josip Šutalo, Duje Ćaleta-Car, Josip Stanišić, Marin Pongračić, Luka Vušković, Ivan Smolčić and Šimun Hrgović.
The midfield blends experience and youth, led by Luka Modrić and Mateo Kovačić. Also included are Mario Pašalić, Nikola Vlašić, Lovro Majer, Martin Baturina, brothers Petar and Luka Sučić, Kristijan Jakić, Toni Fruk and Josip Mišić.
The attack is spearheaded by Ivan Perišić, who scored Croatia's lone goal in the recent match against Spain, and Andrej Kramarić. They are joined by Ante Budimir, Marco Pašalić, Igor Matanović, Petar Musa, Franjo Ivanović, Dion Drena Beljo and Marin Šotiček.
These matches will conclude Croatia's campaign in League A Group 3. After three consecutive defeats, including the loss to Spain a few weeks ago, Bilić's selection signals a desire for stability and a fresh start. The challenge is particularly great as the next opponent, England, sits first in the table, with the fixture set for 12 November.
Slaven Bilić said: "Croatia head coach Slaven Bilić has named a 32-man preliminary squad for November’s Nations League matches against England and the Czech Republic, as announced by HNS."
